Critical Links’ edgeBOX Selected by European Alternative Operator ONI to Deliver Cutting Edge Managed Services for SMBs

ONI Communications’ edgeBOX-based Managed Services offering enables SMBs to cut costs, outsource converged communications and networking, and focus on business.

INTERNET TELEPHONY CONFERENCE & EXPO, MIAMI, FL, February 2, 2009 - Critical links , a global provider of unified voice, data and IT solutions for SMBs, today announced that it has been selected by ONI Communications, a next-generation fixed line European telecommunications operator to supply edgeBOX Business Gateways to support ONI’s new Managed Services offering for Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs).

In an uncertain economic climate, the ONI Communications offering delivers a comprehensive suite of managed communication and networking services based on the remotely managed edgeBOX “all-in-one” customer premises equipment and enables SMBs to increase productivity and competitiveness while reducing their operational costs. SMBs benefit from these sophisticated set of networking capabilities without any upfront investment.

“The edgeBOX Business Gateway is enabling ONI Communications to deliver a managed communication and networking services offering that is innovative, reliable and is in fact, the best value in the market for SMBs. Simultaneously, the edgeBOX is allowing us to simplify the service deployment and increase our capability to manage, upgrade and maintain all the communications and networking needs of a company,” said Mr. Pedro Aleixo, corporate business unit sales director at ONI Communications. “With ONI, SMBs can benefit hugely from outsourcing all its business communications, networking services and infrastructure deployment and management to a single service provider, releasing resources to focus on their core business.”

ONI Communications is a provider of communication solutions focusing on the corporate and carrier’s carrier markets. In 2007-08 it had a turnover of more than 132 million Euros in corporate telecommunications services; more than twothirds of this revenue was due to complex data and integrated solution services. ONI Communications has a market share of more than 20 percent in the corporate and carrier’s carrier segments, which positions it as the European alternative network operator with the highest market share in these segments.

“The edgeBOX is a service provider-ready platform to deliver voice, data, networking and security services. It enables services such as VoIP, VPN, WiFi and a whole lot of others; by effectively replacing several dedicated devices, it significantly reduces the operational and management costs associated with delivering these services,“ said Mr. Abdul Kasim, Vice President, Global Marketing and Business Development at Critical Links. “We are glad that ONI Communications has recognized the edgeBOX value proposition and launched its very appealing managed service offering.”

The edgeBOX device will connect the SMB customer’s LAN to the ONI WAN, allowing customers to further leverage ONI’s leading edge IP-MPLS network and the highest quality of services in the market.
